The Hoppret Caper

Notes for the final chapter of the Hoppret Saga

Hetedan, 12th of Dalta, year 200 of Ilais

The Hoppret Caper.

After dramatically fainting, and convincing a servant at the party that they were dangerously ill, Thryn and Aranar manage to get a room inside the manor, meeting up with Anya in the rooms to lay a plan. Later that night, Anya and Aranar sneak out the window to catch and knock out two of the guards, and then pincering the guards with Thryn providing ranged attacks from behind, disable the rest of the guards guarding the armour, all under a silence spell by Anya. Then, entirely forgetting the meaning of gently breaking glass, Aranar smashes the case, breaking the arcane runes and summoning a vampire spawn to the glass case, attacking the party.

Once their teleporting enemy is defeated, the armour is taken and Anya and Aranar sneak it out of the manor, the only spot of trouble was when Anya almost got caught by the proprietor of the inn for making too much noise in the back court. Luckily people never look up. Armour retrieved, the party make their hasty leave the next day, but not before learning that the guards they had knocked out were apparently dead from vampires, and that there were now new taxes and levies on Coalgrove in order to defend against future attacks.

Travelling back to the crossroads is uneventful as the other noble caravans have cleared the way of any ne’er-do-wells. Once back with the small amount of the Mandoa clan, Aranar gives the armour retrieved back to Goran and asks for the Clockwork Scorpion to be made. After a week of crafting and resting, the party return to Ironmaw, feeling more powerful and revolver in holster.

In Ironmaw the party collects the contract for the university, and Thryn sells the gems to a old gnommish jeweller that lives in the noble quarter with them. Once back home, Thryn explains the journey that they have all undertaken (avoiding the specifics of a certain heist), and shows off Ami, a pseudodragon, and creature of the feywild.

That night, on the wind a loud gust of wind can be heard continuing for many minutes before finally calming down.
